Elements of Design Vocab Assignment

For this assignment, you will be asked to find and describe examples of the

elements of design in photographs of food.

You should find photographic examples of the following terms:

Line- choose two types, minimum:

 (curved, straight, diagonal, vertical, broken, heavy, etc)

Texture

Shape

Form

Space

Colour

Value / Tone

To demonstrate proficiency, you must select six photos and analyze how the elements of design are used in them. You need three examples of each element.  

For extending, you must also explain what effect or feeling the element creates (for example, why do you think the chef or photographer made this artistic decision?)

 EXAMPLE:

Apply the elements and principles of design to food photographs, plans and products created by self and others		-Explains, in detail, how elements are used in each photo. -Each element is used at least three times
Apply conventions for digital presentations (i.e. appropriate font, colors, background, bullet sizes, etc)		-Follows digital conventions- easy to read, neat layout, appropriate bullet length (e.g. bullets are point form, info grouped according to topic, high contrast colour choices, etc)
